Bristow Helicopter crash: Investigation Bureau finds Black Box

The Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB), on Friday announced that it had recovered the Black Box of the Bristow helicopter that crashed into the Lagos lagoon on Wednesday.

The black box is a piece of equipment on an aircraft that contains the Cockpit Voice and the Flight Data Recorders.
It records what happens on a flight and can be used to discover the cause of accidents.

 Commissioner of the Accident Investigation Bureau, Dr Felix Abali, made this known while displaying the two devices to aviation correspondents at the bureau’s headquarters in Lagos.
The Bristow helicopter with tail number 5N-BGD, plunged into Lagoon at about 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday while returning to Lagos from an oil rig operation.
Six persons were killed, while six survivors are receiving treatment at a Lagos hospital.
