Some pipeline security and surveillance contractors under President Goodluck Jonathan have written an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari on the need to settle the debt the past government was owing them.
The letter made available to DAILY POST on Monday was signed by the contractors who included the company names under which they secured the jobs.
They are Dr. Fredrick Faseun – New Age NIG. Ltd; Otunba Gani Adams – Donyx Global Concept Ltd; Alhaji Asari Dokubo – ATEF Nig. Ltd; High Chief Bibo Pere Ajube – Galery Security Services Ltd; Chief Joshua Machiever – Bajeros NIG Ltd; High Chief Omo O. – Close Body Protection Ltd and Izon Ibe Security Ltd
It will be recalled that the All Progressives Congress (APC) kicked against the award of pipeline security to groups by Jonathan administration, insisting that the development undermines the duties of the Nigerian Navy.
Expectedly, President Muhammadu Buhari, cancelled the contract few days after he assumed office.
But the contractors in the statement argued that they were in possession of valid and duly signed contract agreements with the management of the NNPC to protect the pipelines for a period of three months.
“Up on till now, the public perception of the NNPC Pipeline Security and Surveillance job was that former President, Goodluck Jonathan gave the job to the contractors on the platter of politics,” they noted.

Executive Chairman, Chrome Oil Services, Mr Emeka Offor, says importation of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) would drop by about 40 percent when critical unit of the Port-Harcourt refinery begins operation.
“Hope of petroleum products supply stability is about to be accomplished as we at Chrome Oil Services company, the major contractors handling key rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt refinery will complete work on the FCCU [Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit],” he told energy correspondents on Sunday.
“The company is among other contractors carrying out overhaul of the facility as government takes giant steps to revamp the country’s four refineries in a bid to address the lingering fuel scarcity,” he said.
Offor assured Nigerians that when the Port Harcourt refinery becomes fully operational, the unit would concentrate on the production of petrol which would go a long way in reducing importation.
He noted that the lack of Turn-Around Maintenance (TAM) of the existing refineries in the country had contributed to the perennial fuel scarcity.
“Over time, the refineries are working but below installed capacity, the last TAM was done in 2000 and this is an exercise that should be carried out every two years.
“The inability of the refineries to refine at full capacity further complicated the fuel supply situation across major cities in the country,” he said.
