PDP Crisis: Group Passes Vote Of No Confidence On Metuh, Sets Up Parallel Exco

The crisis rocking the Anambra state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday assumed a disturbing dimension when a group within the party – Anambra State Equity Forum, passed a vote of no confidence on the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Olisa Metuh. In clear demonstration of its disdain for Metuh and anything he supports in the state chapter of the party including the recent congresses, the group, led by Comrade Tony Nwoye, set up a parallel Ward, Local Government and state executives, with the former Secretary to Anambra state Government, Osita Ezenwa as chairman.

They accused Metuh of misconduct, anti party activities and bringing national embarrassment to the party in Anambra state because of his alleged greed and personal ambitions. He was also accused of working against the interest of the PDP in the Nov 2013 governorship election and last general elections in the state.
The group however urged Metuh to tender an unreserved apology for the shame and embarrassment he has willfully caused the party in the state. A party stalwart, Ken Arinze who was a state commissioner, in a speech, noted that the group is the authentic PDP in the state, which according to him is manifested in the calibre of politicians who took out time to grace the inauguration ceremony.
He pointed out the claimed congress, which produced Ken Emeakayi as the state chairman was a kangaroo exercise as it never reflects the collective will of the party faithful in Anambra. Arinze said that the PDP has a sacred mandate of taking over the Awka seat of government come 2017, which he noted must of necessity commence with a free, fair and credible congress. The former commissioner pointed out that the era of writing names of party officials from Abuja is over.
Dr Tony Mcfoy, a former chairman of the party expressed satisfaction that many of founding fathers of the party took out time to attend the inauguration. He noted that Anambrarians are reputed for one-man one-vote and that the so-called congress put together by Metuh and his collaborators is a rape of democracy. He however said that the group would never allow any individual no matter how strong to hijack, intimidate and impose anybody on the party in the state again.
Tony called on the Acting National Chairman of the party, Uche Secondus to call Metuh to order and tow the line of honour as other members of the former national working committee who have gone home after serving the party to the best of their ability. The former state chairman however said that the group is ready to give the erring members opportunity to right the wrong of false congress done a fortnight ago The governorship candidate of the party in the 2013 election, Comrade Tony Nwoye in his speech commended the party faithful for remaining true to the PDP since 2003 when Dr Chris Ngige left the party. The SSG, Ossy Ezenwa emerged the state chairman of the steering committee while CC Okadigwe was appointed the secretary.
Other state officials include Dr Maduka Nwankwo, South Senatorial Zonal vice chairman; Rt Hon Kelue Molokwu Central, and Hon OC Chinwuba, North. Balonwu became the state woman leader, Hon Afam Odogwu; Youth Leader’ Mr Theo Egbe; Fin Sec, Uche Ogbona Treasurer.
